Here is a collection - a terminology - a list - of words derived from hundreds of sources over many centuries. The spellings have evolved depending on the idiom of the seafarer's origin , the meanings may have been adapted and adopted as boats and ships have changed over time.

This terminological treatise in a word document is by no means complete or 100% accurate.

--------------------------------------

There are a couple of very good works which provide a huge compilation of terms nautical,

probably the best (IMHO) is :-

"The Sailing Dictionary"

by Joachim Schult (Author), Barbara Webb (Translator)

# Hardcover: 352 pages

# Publisher: Sheridan House; 2 Sub edition (October 1992)

# Language: English

# ISBN-10: 0924486376

----------------------------------------

Edit: Attachment removed - now on the Cruising Wiki HERE

- Any corrections, additions welcome

This is great! Unfortunately, my printer just spit it all over the floor.
