Hi all,

I'm just wondering if any of our regular cruising yachts are likely to be in the Vietnam/Cambodia region later this year -- around October/November, and could use a couple of extra hands either on a passage or general cruising. The areas we're looking at travelling to include either the north or south of Vietnam (Ha long bay or the Mekong delta) or the Cambodian coast anywhere up to the Bay of Thailand. We're flexible in terms of travel arrangements at this stage so if anyone is seeking crew for a particular area we'll go there.

Me: Australian M, 45, experienced offshore yachtsmaster 5000+ nm, capable ocean navigator (born with a good head for numbers), dab hand at anything electrical/electronic, pretty good cook, willing & able to clean the most disgusting of bilge spaces (I have no sense of smell). Monolingual anglophone.

Her: NZ'er F, late 20s, small & doesn't take up much space, prepared to haul on ropes and give pretty much anything a go. Speaks English, moderately fluent German and a smattering of a few other languages.

Thanx,

-Del-

Hi Del,

Apart from the annual Hong Kong to Nah Trang race, there are very very few cruising boats of any kind visiting Vietnam or Cambodia. Plenty of cruisers make their way up the N.W. coast of Borneo - many facilities opening up - while other boats cruise the river systems on that coast. In the Gulf of Thailand (Siam) you have got some very interesting anchorages on the East coast of the Malay Peninsula , starting in the south end at Tioman Island.

On West Malaysia coast there are many excellent anchorages in the Strait of Molucca all the way up to where it becomes the Andaman Sea.
