Hi,

I have emailed the Office and asked for Marina Details -- fees , vhf etccc

I will post when I get answers.

I have this dot on the chart at :- 6 degrees 50.7081' North x 73 degs 02.9541' East

This looks like a good alternative to Uligamu for those yachts waypointing on the way from the

Red Sea to S.E. Asia and return.

Any reply from them yet Richard? Or, is this an indication of how long it takes for them to reply to an email enquiry?

No Response from them YET ! I have 2 yachts (St Leger and Reflections) planning to check them out physically when they stop at Uligamu for diesel on their way to the Seychelles. If/when we get a first hand report I will post - right here.

Hello Bob,

the first URL I used :-

http://www.island-hideaway.com/dk/index.php

only hinted at what they could offer.

I now have this one which is much more informative :-

http://www.marina.islandsailors.com/index.html

I have asked SV StrongLegs to check it on their way to the north of the Maldives from

just east of Sri Lanka this morning.

Hey!

I also sent an e-mail to the Restort/Marina in May but got NO reply.

But in early June -07 we anchored our yacht on a sandy spot, just 5-6 cables SW of the new marina. By dinghy we sailed up to the marina/resort and asked for details. We were actually looking for a good spot to leave the yacht while travelling back to Norway.

The one in charge were VERY formal and spoke excellent english. We were told that the marina is exclusively for guests only. RICH guests that is! The rooms are 500 -3500 USD pr night. They did not want to provide any prices for the marina itself.

BTW: Have someone gotten more information about the proposed changes in yacht-regulations for The Maldives? The new 21day rule was supposed to be enforced from August 1st.

Hello Ben,

Thanks very much for the information on the new marina - it certainly supports other reports

that its purpose is to service VERY rich clients - from the M.E.

If you email Abdullah at the the following address - he is an an agent (a good one in Male) who deals with the authorities every day, and knows yachties requirements, his info will be the most up to date :- amscoATdhivehinet.net.mv

Thanks again

Richard

I glanced at the 2nd website - "Island Partners, Marina Partners".

They list extensive services, including refuelling.

Amongst their claimed past clients is HMAS Newcastle.

What kind of R&R are our navies getting up to, at a posh marina in the Maldives?

Not that I am jealous.

I guess even 'Aussie swabbies' are entitled to a little pleasure (that does Rhyme!)

I wonder what the Newcastle draws ?
