Default this was a lot of work

It take more than 2000 h but I think it is a nice refit. The boat is now better than new. I also get a new sprayhot, engine (beta diesel on kubota),
sails and a lot of other stuff. Is there any question please ask. I now this kind of boat now from masthead to the keel down. Because I did all the work by my self.

such a lot of work done

interested in some close ups of your aries wind vane

i passed on one i saw cheap as it seemed too big and heavy for the small storfidra
but it doesn't seem to look too big on far

also what size engine/gearbox and prop did you fit

i have a 16hp mitsi base / 2.72 reduction ratio g/box / 15 x 10 three blade prop

Hallo, I bought the aries in a "as new condition" in ebay. I was also interested in a windpilot pacific light.
I call Mr. Förthmann from Windpilot and he told me that the Pacific is better for storfidra than the Pacific light what i am interested in. Because of the adjustment out of the cockpit. I also speak Mr. Mathisen in Danemark. He told me that the aries maybe is a little to big for the boat. But I now that I earn 150 lbs of weight when I change the engine. And the aries was much cheeper and stronger than the windpilot.
So I bought and mounted it. And it fits and works very well.
I change the very big volvo md 2 to a nice small kubota based twocylinder from betamarine. The kubota 482 has 14 hp and is al over the world well known.
I dont now the size of my prop jet. I have my paperwork on the boat in germany. The prop is a conservativ three blade.

Hallo markwesti,
now I am living in the cold minnesota in saint paul. I need to store the boat in a barn in Germany. But next year move back to Germany and I am planing around Atlantic for 2017. It shall go from Germany to Portugal and over Canaries to Barbados. After Antillen to Florida and Bermuda to Azoren and back home. My family will give me 14 month for the singlehand trip.

Hi fidra88,
I just read the article about Your boat in Palstek Magacine. In 2014 I bought a Storfidra and we brought it from Heeg/Holland over the Channels to Otterndorf/Elbe. It ist just the Storfidra (Sail Number 66) which was descibed in the Yachtseite.de when You write Storfidra in Google. This description was made by a former owner, Michael Becker, I contacted him and we together brought the boat home to Germany in one week.
The whole last year I did a Refit, what is not finished until now. Because the boat seemed to lay some years without of use and caring in Holland in the water, it is a lot of work.
In April, 5th the boat will go into water, again now in the harbour of Neuhaus/Oste. I live in Hannover.
Greetings
Holger

Do you have pics of your boat out of the water now? We would love to see pics of the upcoming re-launch!

Proper job, well done.

I have a Storfidra 25 also, not been anywhere more than 100mls yet but would like to go to St. Kilda this year, just need to run my lines aft to make things easier for single handing.

Regards, Tony.
