Just had an apiphany that I should have had a long time ago... it's probably common knowledge but no one ever told me, so I figure it's good to put it out for anyone else who's missed the obvious...
Was poking around to see if the 2011 Nautical Almanac, Commercial Edition is out... it's not... and when it does come out it will cost $25+...
Then it dawned on me... I don't need the 2011 Almanac, the 2007 one is exactly the same (as far as the sun is concerned)... duh, the suns declination is on a 4 year cycle. So I just ordered the 2007, and 2008 Almanacs for $3 each, which gives me the whole four year cycle...
So, the "Only 4 books you'll ever need" are any four consecutive Commercial Edition Nautical Almanacs!
I'm sure this is a "duh" post to some but I know quite a few people that buy a new almanac every year... if you want the moon and stars fine.. the moon is on a 18.6 year cycle so no quick fix there... but if you really just use the sun and pole star, as I do, don't buy any more new ones... just get 4 old ones and your all set...
