Hi Gails,

Our Scandanavian moderator, Nausikaa, is out of contact for a short while. I am sure when he returns he will be able to look through the Skanti sites to see if the manual comes as a replacement part.

David.

David = thank you for the help - it looks like a good machine but is very old - 1974 I think. Vintage of the boat.

Googling the make and model number throws up a few hits for people who service this brand.

You might have some luck there.

eg

http://www.gmdssmaintainer.com/ in the USA

http://www.eiland-communications.co.uk/index.html in England.

thanks for the help David - not as urgent as skipper has decided - now that he has flown in that he wont take the boat. We will have to lay over for a while.

I have access to Skanti manuals in the local HAM club, what are you specifically looking for ? - they are rather big, so please specify more accurately

Hi,

I am no marine radio expert but I know how difficult getting manuals can be. First things first, you did not say if you are looking for an operator's manual or a service manual.

I have done a quick search and turned up neither but, do not loose faith, as I have a contact in the Netherlands who is a radio genius. Although he works professionally with radios he also renovates older models as a hobby. He can also find replacement radios, parts and manuals. I would advise you to send him an email at tebuwil-AT-kpnplanet.nl. His name is Kees by the way. I can't recommend him highly enough.

In the mean time I will keep searching.

Good luck with your quest.

Aye // Stephen

Dear Gail,

I have joined this forum as your original posting last year was one of the few messages that continually came up as a result of a search for Skanti TRP8250 manual.

I am a marine electronic engineer based near London UK, who is also looking for additional information on these Skanti TRP8000 range of sets. I am currently maintaining a fleet of 7 ships, two of which have the larger 750W TRP8750 and the five smaller ships have the 250W TRP8250. I do have the full technical manuals for both types of set but the manual for the 8250 is less comprehensive than that for the 8750 and certain vital information is missing. Both manuals are in a ring binder but I have not got missing pages. I believe that there might have been an additional manual giving this missing information which Skanti called the depot manual, but I do not have this.

Please e-mail me direct and I shall be happy to try and answer any specific questions you have on the TRP8250. Parts for these units are surprisingly scarce in Europe, especially as the five ships they are fitted to were built as late as 1993. With thanks, Kim.
