I have the ultimate Maui windsurf set up and I want to take my family sailing on a modern Cat for a few weeks. We want to see if we can take a perfect lifestyle of surf and sun and upgrade to the mobile version! Have sailed all my life, cruised, raced, blue water, skippered in the BVIs and of course windsurf about 15 days a month. I am a sail maker of 26 years too. I know boats, but my family does not know cruising.

So if you want to come to windsurf mecca and be set up on the beach with all new gear (windsurf, surf, SUP) and a 2 bedroom house on a northshore beach, let me know! I want to trade for time on your boat.

Why limit yourself to a Cat?

Well, I have sailed monohulls extensively. I still love the motion of a keel boat. But I have a less sea kindly family (I think).

I have sailed beach cats a lot, and even sailed the old Tag H cat which really opened my eyes to their possibilities.

But for cruising, the main reason I look at a cat is we are a family of 5 with soon to be a teen and I think that SPACE will be important for family sanity.

So that was the idea, but truthfully, I would be open to a monohull for this cruise too.

Ummm... You've got a family of 5 in a 2-bedroom house and you're worried about space on a boat that you're going to be on for a couple weeks? Doesn't compute.

Regarding sea-kindly and seasick family...they'll get just as sick on the cat as a monohull.

I'm guessing the 2 bedroom house is a guest house...

Well it has 3 bedrooms, but one is pretty tiny. Still bigger than most boats though!

But it is on nearly 4 acres, so we live a lot outside anyways.
